How to play
Every day there's one new puzzle for everyone: seven prompts, such as "Name a red fruit". Type the first answer that comes to mind. You score by matching the pack: the more people who gave your answer, the more points you get.
Scoring
Each prompt is worth up to 100 points. The most common answer scores 100, and every other answer scores in proportion to how many people gave it. If half as many people said your answer as said the top one, you get 50. Seven prompts make a total out of 700.
Spelling doesn't need to be perfect. Small typos, plurals, capital letters and different ways of writing the same thing ("hip hop" and "hip-hop") all count as the same answer.
The timer
You have 25 seconds per prompt. When time runs out, whatever you've typed is locked in.
Going deeper into the forest
Each answer takes your wolf deeper into the forest. How deep it goes on a prompt depends on its score:
- Treeline0 to 19 points
- Underbrush20 to 39
- Thicket40 to 59
- Old growth60 to 79
- The den80 to 100
Your running total moves you along the trail past landmarks, from the trailhead to the den. Few wolves reach the den on any given day.
The crowd
After each answer you see what everyone else said. Early in the day, before many people have played, the crowd includes an estimate of how people answer, which fades out as real players arrive. Answers that nobody else gave score 0.
A new puzzle every day
The puzzle changes at midnight UTC, at the same moment for everyone, wherever you are. If you're partway through when it changes, you have 30 minutes to finish. Play every day to build a streak.
Share and challenge
When you finish, Share your trail gives you a card with your score and how deep you went on each prompt, without your answers. Anyone who opens your link sees your score and can try to beat it.
